“Welcome!” A voice says, bringing me out of what seems to have been a deep, deep sleep.
“Hmm? Where am I?” I say, opening my eyes.
All around me is a lush, green field, full of various different flowers. The scent making me feel calm and relaxed, nearly able to ignore anything else.
“You are in the Field of Beginnings,” the voice says, seemingly closer than before. The voice seems to be female, and is easy on the ears. “This is my domain. I am Edia, Goddess of Beginnings.”
“I see. Ah, where are you then? I don’t see anyone here.”
I begin looking around, but confirm that there is, in fact, no one else here. A blinding white light appears from in front of me, then disappears as fast as it had appeared leaving a beautiful young woman with long silver hair wearing a stunning pure white dress that goes down to her ankles.
“Forgive me for that,” The woman, probably Edia, says, tilting her head slightly forward. “I had to make sure that you would be able to handle seeing my true form without going insane with lust. I don’t want that to happen again.”
“That happened in the past? If so, then I don’t mind the wait,” I say, backing up slowly.
“Don’t worry, don’t worry,” She says, shaking her hand back and forth. “That won’t happen to you. Your mentality is strong enough. That’s actually what this field is here for, anyways. Before this it was just white.”
It’s certainly an improvement I think to myself, looking around to take in the view once more.
“So,” I say, turning back to Edia, “why did you bring me here?”
“Well,” She says, shifting her eyes to the right, “it’s definitely not because you got summoned to be a hero in another world.”
I’m being summoned as a hero? Isn’t that a bit cliché? My eyes begin radiating disapiontment.
“Like I said, you’re not being summoned as a hero!” She says, pouting while puffing out her cheeks. “There was a bit of a mess-up on our side. A rip in space-time opened, and while we normally close them immediately, the person who was on duty had fallen asleep on the job. You, while half asleep, opened you closet thinking you had to get ready for school on a Saturday. That just happened to be where the rip was, and you got sucked in along with a lot of your shirts.”
I close my jaw, which had involuntarily dropped out of shock of my own stupidity.
“You’re joking right? Please tell me you were joking just then! That can’t be the reason!” I yell, grabbing onto her shoulders and shaking her violently.
She darts her eyes away from mine, looking towards the grass. “Heh, heh heh heh.” She chuckles sarcastically. “But don’t worry! I’m willing to repay you for this screw up on our side!”
“Then send me back to my world.”
“I don’t have permission to do that…” A long silence passes between the two of us. “However, I can gift you with some skills and information!”
“Like what?” I say, giving her a doubtful look.
“Umm… How about a skill that can translate spoken and written languages of that world?”
“Hmm. I don’t know.”
Maybe if I keep this up, I can milk extra skills off of her.
“Then, uh, how about Analyze! It allows you to analyze anything you see!” She begins flapping her arms around while sweating small beads off her forehead.
Oh! So it’s similar to appraisal-sama?! My eyes light up in excitement for a moment as a grin begins to form, before I quickly wipe that away.
“If you’re not happy with just that, then I can permit you one last thing! A Gacha system for your skills!” She says, sweat beginning to drip off her chin.
“Gacha? Like on those mobile games?”
“Yes! You can roll for a chance at a rare or higher skill once per level, or save up to ten levels and get 11 skills, one of which is guaranteed to be rare!”
“If I take that offer, would I also get Analyze and the translation skill?”
“If that’s what it takes to make you happy in that world, then fine.”
“Deal!” I say, grabbing one of her hands and shaking it up and down.
“O-Okay, just let go of my hand.” She says, unaware of what has just happened. “I’ll send you near a small town or village in the Zoral Kingdom so you can start your life doing whatever you want. Oh, I forgot to mention that you can earn skills regularly through practicing things as well.”
“How many skills are there?”
“Seriously?! Then, what’s the rate of getting rare or higher ranked skills using the Gacha function?”
“Umm, around a 9% chance at getting a rare skill, 5% chance at getting a super rare skill, a 1% chance at getting a legendary skill, and a .5% chance at getting a godly skill. The godly skill does not make you a God though, so don’t get your hopes up.”
“I see. Thank you for the information. I guess I’m ready to go then.”
“Alright, I’ll send you down near a small town. Just walk straight for a couple of hours, and you’ll find it.”
A bright light shines, and my consciousness begins to fade.
